Second Chance to Repentant Thugs in Kano State
Share this:

The Kano State Hisbah Board has announced plans to sponsor the weddings of repentant thugs who surrendered their weapons and renounced violence. Commander-General of Hisbah, Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, disclosed this after more than 1,000 youths turned in their arms, pledging to embrace peace.

Sheikh Daurawa explained that the initiative is part of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s programme to rehabilitate youths who have abandoned crime and chosen a decent path in life. He urged the ex-thugs to ensure their repentance was genuine, while calling on others still in crime to seize the opportunity.

Speaking at the Police Headquarters in Bompai, Governor Yusuf—represented by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya—said the police had begun screening the youths, after which the NDLEA would also verify their sincerity. The governor added that the government would provide start-up funds, vocational training, and education opportunities for the repentant youths.

Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, hailed the programme as proof of the government’s commitment to fighting crime and rehabilitating young people. Youth leaders such as Kamilu and Buzu Mai Kidan Gangi expressed gratitude for the support, describing it as a second chance at life.
