Public Affairs Analyst, Dotun Ojon, has stated that Nigeria’s political landscape is likely to witness major shifts after the 2027 general elections, as politicians begin to redirect their attention toward the battle for 2031.
According to him, current alliances built around President Bola Ahmed Tinubu may not remain permanent once the next electoral cycle is concluded.
Speaking during an interview aired by News Central TV, Ojon explained that Nigerian politics is largely driven by long-term ambitions and strategic positioning. He noted that political actors often begin planning for future contests immediately after an election, leading to constant realignments within parties and across political blocs.
Ojon further emphasized that political relationships in Nigeria are mostly interest-driven, with stakeholders seeking relevance in the next power equation.
Finally, he added that understanding these shifting dynamics is important in interpreting many political decisions and alliances currently unfolding across the country.
