Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential hopeful, Peter Obi, has reiterated the need for decisive leadership in addressing insecurity across the country, stressing that schools and communities must be adequately protected to secure the nation’s future.

Obi made the remarks during a visit to Practicing Nursery and Primary School, Agulu, in Anambra State, where he fulfilled a pledge to support the reconstruction of parts of the school destroyed by fire last year.

According to him, governments at all levels must demonstrate stronger political will to guarantee safety and stability, especially within educational institutions.

Speaking during the visit, Obi recalled his experience as former governor of Anambra State, noting that firm leadership and commitment remain essential in tackling insecurity. He emphasized that education is the foundation of national development and described the rebuilding of schools as an investment in hope and the future of younger generations.

Importantly, as part of his support for the institution, founded in 1922, Obi presented an initial donation of ₦10 million to commence reconstruction work on the damaged structure, which had stood for over a century before it was gutted by fire.

The former governor also interacted with pupils and encouraged them to remain focused on their studies, reminding them that discipline, hard work, and dedication are key ingredients for success.

In conclusion, Obi expressed optimism about the future of the children, stating that their dreams can only be achieved through education and determination.

Finally, he was accompanied on the visit by Professors Chinyere Stella Okunna and Prof. Patrick Obi, as community members and school authorities commended the intervention aimed at restoring the historic institution.
