The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Anambra State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), and the Mayor of Awka South Local Government Area, Prince Chinedu Okafor, visited the scene of the recent killing of herders at Agu-Ifite, Awka, to assess the situation and sympathize with the affected families. The delegation, led by NEMA’s Head of Enugu Operations Office, Mrs. Priscilla Madukwe, condemned the attack, urged peaceful coexistence, and said its findings would be submitted to the Federal Government.
Prince Chinedu Okafor appealed to the Hausa/Fulani community to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as investigations continue. He reaffirmed that every Nigerian has the right to live and work anywhere in the country, stressing that Anambra has zero tolerance for crime and assuring residents that those responsible for the killings would be brought to justice.
Speaking on behalf of the Fulani community, MACBAN leader Alhaji Gidado Siddiki commended the prompt visit by the Mayor, NEMA, and SEMA, describing it as a show of compassion and leadership. He urged members of the community to remain peaceful, avoid reprisals, and allow security agencies to ensure that justice is served.
