Mixed reactions have followed comments by Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Policy Communication, who said Nigerians are “extremely happy” with the progress being recorded by the Tinubu administration, particularly in the area of security.
Bwala made the remarks during Wednesday’s edition of Politics Today on Channels Television, where he spoke on the performance of the current administration and its efforts to address the country’s security challenges.
During the interview, the presidential spokesperson maintained that Nigerian security forces had intensified operations against criminal elements, resulting in the arrest and elimination of terrorists in different parts of the country.
He also referred to a recent letter from U.S. President Donald Trump to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which he said commended the Nigerian leader for the progress recorded in tackling insecurity.
Speaking on the state of the nation, Bwala declared that many Nigerians were satisfied with the direction of the administration.
While supporters of the administration agreed with Bwala’s assessment, citing ongoing military operations against insurgents and efforts to improve national security, others disagreed, arguing that many citizens are still grappling with economic hardship, high inflation, insecurity in some parts of the country, and the rising cost of living.
Some commenters questioned whether the level of public satisfaction described by the presidential aide reflected the experiences of ordinary Nigerians, while others urged the government to sustain its security efforts and intensify measures to address economic challenges.
The latest comments have added to the ongoing public debate over the Tinubu administration’s record, with government officials highlighting improvements in security and governance, while critics continue to call for faster relief from economic pressures facing millions of Nigerians.
