Ahead of the forthcoming June 20 gubernatorial election in Ekiti State, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed its readiness to host top leaders and members of the party, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, and former Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

Others are the Senator representing Kogi Central, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan; Senator Abdul Ningi; and several members of the National Assembly at its grand finale rally scheduled for Saturday, June 13, in Ado-Ekiti.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Wole Oluyede Campaign Organisation and made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti today by its Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi.

According to the statement, the National Chairman of the party, Abdulrahman Mohammed, is expected to lead the National Secretary, Senator Sam Anyanwu; his assistant, Chief Bisi Kolawole; and other members of the National Working Committee (NWC) to the rally.

Other prominent PDP leaders expected at the event include former Governor of Niger State, Dr. Babangida Aliyu; former Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido; former Minister of Information, Professor Jerry Gana; and former Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Ahmed Makarfi.

Similarly, members of the Board of Trustees (BoT), led by former Senate President Senator Adolphus Wabara, are expected to attend.

Others expected include Senator Jubril Wali; former Governor of Gombe State, Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo; and the PDP governorship candidate in Ogun State, Ladi Adebutu.

The Atona Oodua of Yorubaland, Chief Olabode George; former PDP Chairman in Ondo State, Clement Faboyede; and other notable party leaders are also expected to grace the occasion.

In addition, PDP chairmen from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are expected to be present at the rally.

The party’s governorship candidate, Dr. Wole Oluyede, and other PDP leaders in Ekiti State have already toured all 16 local government areas of the state, canvassing support from the electorate ahead of the June 20 election.

During the campaign tour, Oluyede outlined key aspects of his manifesto, including the establishment of an Independent Power Plant to ensure stable electricity supply across the state.

He also pledged to prioritise security by constructing police stations in strategic border communities and vulnerable areas to curb kidnapping, banditry, and other criminal activities.

According to him, road infrastructure will receive significant attention through the construction of circular roads that will make movement across the state faster and more efficient.

Oluyede also promised to stimulate economic growth and reduce poverty by establishing cooperative societies that would provide access to capital for entrepreneurs and small business owners.

To encourage business growth, he pledged to reduce what he described as excessive taxation, thereby creating a more favourable environment for small and medium-scale enterprises.

He further promised regular training and retraining of civil servants to enhance efficiency and improve service delivery in the public sector.

The PDP candidate assured pensioners that pension and gratuity arrears would receive priority attention and be cleared within a reasonable period.

The medical consultant-turned-politician also pledged to strengthen the healthcare sector through both rural and urban health initiatives, saying the state could generate substantial revenue annually from healthcare investments.

He added that the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) would be boosted through investments in tourism, with tourist attractions receiving adequate attention and development.

Oluyede further promised to assign traditional rulers greater responsibilities in governance, recognising their role as custodians of culture and tradition and partners in maintaining security.

On local government administration, he pledged to grant full autonomy to local councils, allowing them to determine how best to utilise their allocations without undue interference.

According to him, this would accelerate grassroots development and urban transformation across the state.
