The Uhueze-Nenwe Autonomous Community in Enugu State has crowned retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Chief Godwin-Chijioke Nwobodo, as its new traditional ruler. Nwobodo, a Fellow of the National Defence College, served 35 years in the police force before retiring in 2019. He replaces the late Igwe Emmanuel Nwachukwu, who died nine years ago.

The coronation was described as “historic and glorious” by Group Captain Joseph Orji (Rtd), Chairman of the Coronation Planning Committee. Orji praised Nwobodo’s leadership experience and commitment to service, saying his ascension to the throne is “divinely ordained”. Community members pledged to support Nwobodo, citing his dedication to excellence and progress.

In his acceptance speech, Nwobodo pledged to lead with the fear of God, promote peace and justice, and uphold the community’s cultural heritage. He invited all members to unite and work together, promising to collaborate with leaders and authorities to safeguard the community and uphold women’s dignity.
