In a move aimed at improving access to basic social amenities, Alhaji Muhammad Atiku Abubakar, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has commissioned solar-powered boreholes for Almajiri Tsangaya schools in Kano State. The project is expected to provide pupils and their teachers with a more reliable source of clean and safe drinking water.
The initiative addresses an important need in traditional Islamic learning centres, where access to essential facilities such as potable water remains a challenge for some communities. By providing solar-powered water facilities, the intervention seeks to ease the daily burden on pupils and teachers while promoting a healthier learning environment.
According to a statement by Tanimu A. Tahir, Special Assistant on Youth and Strategy to Atiku Abubakar, the project reflects a commitment to addressing basic humanitarian needs, particularly among children in underserved communities. The intervention also highlights the importance of practical support initiatives that bring essential services closer to those who need them most.
