JUST IN: Police Launch Health Campaign for Officers
Share this:

As part of ongoing efforts to improve the welfare, health and operational effectiveness of personnel of the Nigeria Police Force, the Director of Force Medical Services, AIG Nkechi Ifeoma Eze, has flagged off the “Know Your Number” campaign in the Kwara State Police Command.

The health initiative is aimed at combating preventable medical conditions responsible for cases of sudden collapse and death among police personnel.

The campaign also forms part of the welfare-focused vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to promote a healthier and more resilient workforce capable of effectively discharging its constitutional responsibilities to the nation.

Addressing officers and men of the command during a series of health sensitisation lectures, AIG Nkechi Ifeoma Eze highlighted the dangers posed by undetected hypertension, diabetes, prostate cancer and other silent health conditions.

She emphasised that regular medical screening and early detection remain critical to preventing avoidable health complications and preserving lives.

According to the AIG, the “Know Your Number” campaign is designed to encourage personnel to routinely monitor key health indicators, embrace preventive healthcare practices and seek timely medical intervention where necessary.

She noted that maintaining good health is not only essential for personal well-being but also fundamental to effective policing and public service delivery.

As part of the programme, medical teams conducted free health screenings for officers and men of the command, including blood pressure, blood sugar and other basic medical checks.

In his remarks, the state Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police and the Director of Force Medical Services for extending the initiative to the command.

He reiterated the command’s continued support for programmes aimed at enhancing the welfare, well-being and professional efficiency of police personnel, according to a statement by the spokesperson of the command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, in Ilorin on Tuesday.
