According to reports published by The Vanguard on May 12, 2026, the political group known as Ndigbo for Tinubu (NDI-ABAT) has dismissed concerns surrounding the proposed 2027 presidential alliance between Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso.
The group insisted that the rumored coalition, reportedly operating under the National Democratic Congress (NDC), does not pose any significant challenge to the re-election prospects of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement jointly signed by the group’s National Coordinator, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, and its Publicity Secretary, Dr. Peter Ozor, NDI-ABAT described the alliance as a weak and unstable arrangement formed without proper political structure or long-term strategy.
The organization maintained that the coalition lacks the strength and coordination necessary to compete effectively in the 2027 presidential election.
The group further claimed that the alliance would eventually “crumble like a pack of cards,” arguing that it was only a temporary political arrangement created out of desperation.
According to the statement, the Obi-Kwankwaso movement cannot withstand the growing political influence and organizational network being developed by the Forum of Former South East Governors under the leadership of the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi.
NDI-ABAT also announced an ambitious mobilization effort aimed at securing massive electoral support for President Tinubu across the country. The group revealed plans to deliver about 11 million Igbo votes for the President across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas during the 2027 general election.
It stated that it currently has more than five million members working with grassroots leaders and community stakeholders to strengthen Tinubu’s support base within the South East and among Nigerians in the diaspora.
As part of its political activities ahead of the election, the organization disclosed plans to host a pro-Tinubu Summit on June 12, 2026, as well as a “2 Million Man Rally” scheduled for July 2026 in the South East region.
According to the group, these events are intended to reinforce support for the President and prevent a repeat of the “Obidient” movement that gained popularity during the 2023 elections.
The group concluded by urging members of the opposition to maintain peace throughout the election period while expressing confidence that President Tinubu would secure victory in the South East.
