The Anambra State Police Command has cautioned the public against misleading reports concerning police presence at St. Faith Anglican Church amid an alleged ecclesiastical dispute. The Command described some reports as misleading, warning that the misrepresentation of security interventions could heighten tensions and deepen divisions within the religious community.
In a clarification issued on October 19, 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, explained that police deployment is aimed at maintaining law and order, protecting lives and property, and preventing any breakdown of peace. He stressed that the presence of police personnel should not be interpreted as support for any faction or position in the dispute, reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to neutrality, professionalism, and the protection of citizens’ rights.
The Command urged media organisations, social media users, and other stakeholders to verify information before publication and refrain from spreading narratives capable of inflaming tensions. Reassuring Ndi Anambra of its commitment to public safety, the Police maintained that it would continue to discharge its constitutional responsibilities without fear or favour and would not allow the ecclesiastical dispute or any other disagreement to escalate into a threat to public peace and security.
