The Member representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency in the 10th National Assembly, Hon. Peter Aniekwe, has called for an immediate ceasefire and peaceful resolution of the communal crisis between Aguleri and Umuoba Anam. The lawmaker appealed to both communities to embrace calm, exercise restraint, and prioritize dialogue over confrontation, stressing that peace remains essential to protecting lives, preserving relationships, and sustaining development across the affected areas.
Hon. Aniekwe also urged the Federal Government and the Anambra State Government to intensify efforts towards restoring peace and security in the affected communities. He called for urgent and coordinated intervention to address the situation, prevent further escalation, and create an atmosphere where residents can go about their daily activities without fear. He emphasized the importance of constructive engagement among relevant stakeholders in finding a lasting solution to the crisis.
According to the lawmaker’s appeal, no meaningful development can thrive in an atmosphere of conflict and insecurity. He urged the people of Aguleri and Umuoba Anam to embrace mutual understanding, peaceful coexistence, and reconciliation in the interest of their families, communities, and future generations. As calls for calm continue, the priority remains the restoration of lasting peace, the protection of lives and property, and the rebuilding of trust between the neighbouring communities.
