The federal lawmaker representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency, Hon. Peter Udeogalanya Aniekwe, has called for calm and peaceful coexistence between Aguleri and Umuoba Anam following renewed boundary tensions between the neighbouring communities. He expressed deep concern over the situation, stressing that peace remains essential for the safety, unity, and development of both communities.
Hon. Aniekwe urged traditional rulers, Presidents-General, stakeholders, youths, and residents of both communities to embrace dialogue and strictly comply with the directives of the Mayor of Anambra East Local Government Area, Hon. Sir Ifeanyi Chinweze. He emphasized that violence would only bring hardship, economic setbacks, and destruction, while peaceful engagement offers a path towards a lasting resolution.
The lawmaker commended the local government leadership and security agencies for their timely intervention, reaffirming his commitment to working with relevant stakeholders to restore lasting peace. He appealed to both communities to sheathe their swords, respect constituted authorities, and allow the appropriate government institutions to resolve the dispute in the collective interest of the people.
