The most altruistic lawmaker of the 10th National Assembly, Hon. Peter Aniekwe (Macpee), Member representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency and the NDC candidate for Anambra East and West Federal Constituency, has continued to prove that true representation is about giving the people a voice where it matters most. Since assuming office, he has remained steadfast in speaking up on issues that affect the daily lives of Nigerians.
On 11 October 2024, he sponsored a motion urging the Federal Government to suspend tax policies that placed additional burdens on low-income earners, arguing that at a time of rising inflation and economic hardship, the welfare of ordinary citizens must come first.
Significantly, Hon. Aniekwe continues with sponsoring other motions, providing interventions, committee oversight functions and ensuring that the defense of Constitutents remains active.
Also, Hon. Aniekwe has complemented his advocacy with legislation aimed at creating lasting opportunities for his constituents. On 22 April 2026, he sponsored the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (Amendment) Bill (HB. 2742), seeking to establish the Federal College of Agriculture at Oroma Etiti, Anam, Anambra State. The proposed institution is designed to promote agricultural education, research, innovation, youth employment, and improved food security, while positioning Anambra East and West as a centre for agricultural excellence.
In conclusion, Hon. Aniekwe’s legislative activities continue to reflect a leadership style built on service, compassion, and results.
Finally, from championing motions that protect the welfare of ordinary Nigerians to sponsoring bills that will drive long-term development, he has consistently defended the interests of Anambra East and West Federal Constituency, ensuring that the voices of his people are heard and their aspirations are translated into meaningful action.
