Senator Victor Umeh has dismissed claims by Ralph Okey Nwosu that he defeated Peter Obi in a past party primary, insisting that due process was never followed by the former party chairman.
Speaking during an interview aired on SYMFONI’s official YouTube channel on Wednesday, Umeh stated that Nwosu neither purchased the nomination form nor participated in the mandatory screening exercise, making his claims of victory completely unfounded.
The lawmaker representing Anambra Central explained that political processes must remain transparent and properly documented to preserve public trust in democratic institutions.
According to him, official records from the screening and primary committees clearly show those who legitimately participated in the exercise, stressing that no individual can rewrite political history through media narratives or social media propaganda. He further urged journalists and political commentators to verify sensitive electoral claims before presenting them to the public.
Umeh maintained that accountability and truth must remain central in Nigeria’s political environment, especially when discussing electoral contests involving notable political figures.
Finally, Senator emphasized that fabricated victories cannot replace verifiable facts, adding that political actors should channel their energy toward national development rather than promoting misleading narratives.
