A road accident occurred on the Gbongan Expressway in Osun State, Nigeria, claiming no lives but leaving one person severely injured. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed that 15 others escaped unhurt from the crash, which involved a white commercial bus.
The accident happened around 3:45 p.m. on the Gbongan-Ode Omu Grammar School axis, caused by a burst tyre and excessive speed, leading to the bus losing control. The FRSC rescue team arrived promptly, rescuing all 16 passengers, with the injured victim receiving medical attention at a Gbongan hospital.
The Osun Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr. Adegboyega Leye, has warned motorists against speeding, emphasizing that reckless driving often leads to avoidable loss of lives and property on Nigerian highways. The vehicle involved has been confiscated by the FRSC.
