Lagos Judiciary Sets 2026 Deadline for Full Digitisation
Share this:

Lagos Chief Judge Kazeem Alogba has declared that the state’s courts will be fully digitised by 2026.

Alogba made the announcement on Wednesday at the Lagos State Judiciary’s end-of-year party held in Ikeja.

According to him, the move aims to enhance efficiency, accountability, and the delivery of justice in the state.

Outlining plans for the new year, Alogba said the judiciary would become “much more digital,” emphasising that every stage of judicial operations must be carefully balanced and gradually implemented.

“Digitisation is the only way forward. Failure to adapt will leave the judiciary behind. Embracing technology will also improve accountability and the justice system,” he said.

He stressed that the judiciary would not afford to lag behind in a rapidly changing technological world, adding that adapting to digital processes was imperative for sustained relevance and effectiveness.

The Chief Judge also underscored the importance of faith, diligence, and commitment to duty, noting that divine compensation surpasses any form of human reward.

He urged judicial officers to remain focused on their responsibilities and to work diligently without looking back.

Alogba described the state judiciary as a pacesetter in Nigeria, noting that its achievements are well-documented and nationally recognised.

He added that the institution must build on its gains and avoid complacency amid growing demands for justice delivery.

He acknowledged the budgetary constraints, emphasising that careful prioritisation and efficient management of available resources would ensure continued progress.

Alogba stated that not all proposed expenditures could be met, making it essential to cut costs and concentrate on priority areas.
