Anambra East and West Gets Global Representation
Share this:

The distinguished Member Representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Peter Aniekwe (Macpee), is currently participating in the Forty-Second International Symposium on Economic Crime at Jesus College, University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.

According to reports, the symposium, themed Cross-Border Crime, brings together global policymakers, legislators, experts, and thought leaders to address pressing challenges of transnational economic crime and develop actionable frameworks for nations and communities.

Hon. Aniekwe’s participation is aimed at equipping himself with global insights to translate into policies benefiting the people of Anambra East and West. He recognizes the far-reaching consequences of economic crimes, including illicit financial flows, smuggling, cyber fraud, and corruption, which stifle growth, undermine local businesses, and deepen poverty.

By engaging in this global dialogue, Hon. Aniekwe seeks to bring back knowledge, strategies, and international best practices to aid Nigeria in tightening its laws, strengthening enforcement mechanisms, and safeguarding local economies. His participation aligns with his mandate in critical committees, including the House Committee on Financial Crimes and the House Committee on Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes.

His presence at Cambridge demonstrates his vision of progressive representation, bringing the world to his people and taking their concerns to the global stage.

The symposium will strengthen Hon. Aniekwe’s legislative contributions toward creating stronger policies against economic crimes, securing the Nigerian economy, and protecting local communities from cross-border criminal activities.
