Fubara Agrees to Step Aside in 2027, Wike Gains Control
Share this:

President Bola Tinubu has brokered a peace deal between Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, aiming to resolve the prolonged political crisis in the state.

A key condition of this truce, as reported by news agent, is that Governor Fubara will be reinstated to complete his four-year tenure but will not seek re-election in 2027.

This agreement is said to be a concession Fubara made in exchange for political stability and to end the state of emergency previously declared in Rivers State.

In addition to the re-election ban, other terms of the agreement reportedly include Fubara paying outstanding allowances and entitlements to the 27 lawmakers loyal to Wike, who were previously suspended.

In return, these lawmakers are expected to refrain from initiating any impeachment proceedings against Fubara.

Both Governor Fubara and Minister Wike have publicly confirmed that a resolution has been reached and that peace has returned to Rivers State, following a meeting with President Tinubu at the State House.
