Ezekiel Nathaniel has etched his name into the history books, becoming the first Nigerian man since 1987 to qualify for the men’s 400m hurdles final at the World Championships.
At the Tokyo 2025 World Championships, Nathaniel stormed to victory in the second semifinal, clocking 47.47s to secure his spot in the final.
He crossed the line ahead of:
Ismail Abakar – Personal Best of 47.61s
Caleb Dean – 47.85s
The last Nigerian man to achieve this feat was Henry Amike in 1987, making Nathaniel’s achievement a historic breakthrough for Team Nigeria.
