Col. Prof. Geoff Onyejegbu, the Anambra Gubernatorial candidate under the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has expressed concerns about Governor Charles Soludo’s leadership style in Anambra State, accusing him of sliding into dictatorship. According to Onyejegbu, the recent suspension of Hon. Bernard Udemezue is a sign of a deeper collapse of democratic institutions in the state.
Onyejegbu argues that the Anambra State House of Assembly has been reduced to a rubber stamp, with members afraid to speak out against the governor’s excesses. He also cites the legislature’s inability to address critical issues such as insecurity and the activities of lawless militias as evidence of its collapse.
The NNPP candidate further alleges that the judiciary has faced challenges, with judicial workers going on strike over legitimate demands that were ignored. He describes the state government as authoritarian, with decisions being dictated by one man rather than being discussed for the good of the people.
Onyejegbu warns that if Soludo’s leadership style continues, Anambra State may face further instability and insecurity. Instead, he offers an alternative vision for the state, one that prioritizes respect for democratic institutions, peace, security, and the welfare of the people.
