Two men captured in a viral video smoking a substance suspected to be marijuana while sitting on a police patrol van and making lewd gestures toward law enforcement officers have been charged with cyber-related offenses by the Delta State Police Command.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a terse statement posted on X handle, on Friday June 20.
The suspects, identified as 34-year-old Patrick Junior Asini and 20-year-old Tega Ojo, were arraigned before the Oghara High Court on a three-count charge, including cyberbullying and cyberstalking, in violation of Sections 24 and 27 of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act.
Following their arraignment, the court ordered that both individuals be remanded at the Sapele Custodial Centre pending further proceedings.
