The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has disclosed that the ruling party is reaching out to opposition leaders to seek broader political support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027. According to a report by Punch on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, Yilwatda made the disclosure while receiving a delegation led by former Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, from the Savannah Centre for Diplomacy, Democracy and Development.
During the meeting, Yilwatda highlighted the APC’s efforts to expand its political alliances ahead of the next presidential election. His remarks reflect the party’s approach to engaging political stakeholders beyond its membership as it seeks to build broader support for Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
The APC chairman also referenced the party’s defeat in Anambra State, where it lost to the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), led by incumbent Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo. As preparations for the 2027 general election gather momentum, the APC’s outreach to opposition figures underscores the growing importance of political alliances, negotiations and wider consultations in Nigeria’s evolving electoral landscape.
