Former Labour Party presidential candidate & NDC Presidential Candidate for 2027 presidential election, Mr. Peter Obi, has expressed deep concern over the reported hostilities between the people of Umuoba-Anam and Aguleri in Anambra East Local Government Area of Anambra State, passionately appealing to both communities to embrace peace and end the crisis. He noted that violence brings nothing but destruction, especially at a time when many Nigerians are struggling to survive the prevailing economic challenges.
Obi urged both communities to immediately cease hostilities, stressing that no grievance, however serious, is worth the loss of human lives, destruction of homes, or the suffering of innocent families. He called on the people to choose dialogue over violence, reconciliation over revenge, and understanding over division, emphasising that peaceful engagement remains the better path to resolving their differences and building a future of shared progress.
He further called on traditional rulers, community leaders, stakeholders, and other concerned individuals to work together towards restoring lasting peace and harmony between Umuoba-Anam and Aguleri. Obi prayed for God to grant wisdom to the leaders and peace to both communities, reaffirming his message of hope with the words: “Nigeria will be OK.” — PO
