Onochie Reacts to Babachir’s Attack on Atiku
Share this:

Fresh political reactions have continued to trail comments made by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, against former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Lawal had stirred controversy after describing Atiku as a religious bigot and election rigger, while criticizing those he accused of helping him secure political victories in the past.

Responding to the remarks, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Lauretta Onochie, accused Babachir Lawal of attempting to destabilize the party before eventually leaving it.

Onochie maintained that the ADC remains stronger than any individual member and insisted that the party’s unity and growth would not be affected by personal grievances or political disagreements.

In a statement shared on her official X handle, Onochie rejected Babachir’s characterization of Atiku, arguing that it was hypocritical for him to make such allegations. She claimed that Babachir had previously sought to influence the nomination of an ADC governorship candidate in Adamawa State using religious considerations.

According to her, such actions undermine his credibility in accusing others of religious bias, describing his latest comments as “disgusting.”
