FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has reacted to the recent Supreme Court decision on the leadership crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying the ruling has ended all divisions in the party.
In a video shared by Arise TV, speaking after the judgment, Wike explained that the court validated the Abuja convention, which produced Abdulrahman as the party’s National Chairman. At the same time, the Ibadan convention that brought in Turaki was nullified.
According to him, this means the PDP now has only one recognized leadership and should no longer be described as a party with factions. He stressed that the ruling confirms the importance of following party rules and legal processes, regardless of who is in power.
Wike also commented on the actions of some party members linked to the earlier opposing group, including Bala Mohammed and Seyi Makinde. He noted that he is unsure of their next political steps, especially with reports that they are involved in meetings with opposition coalitions outside the PDP structure.
He further suggested that alternative political platforms being considered by Makinde and Mohammed are also facing their own internal challenges.
In his words, “My brother Bala Muhammad, and my friend Seyi Makinde, who I hear now is holding a coalition of opposition meeting, which we are not part of, we’re the main opposition party, I don’t know where they will be heading to.”
