Mr. Peter Obi said he attended a deeply emotional and heartbreaking burial of three siblings, Stephen Onyeka Omatu, Casmir Nnabuike Omatu, and Collins Kenechukwu Omatu, who lost their lives in the Great Nigeria Insurance building fire in Lagos, Nigeria. He described the tragedy as indescribable, noting that the young men had sent distressing pleas for help while trapped, but emergency services were unavailable.

Obi stated that several days passed before their bodies were recovered, highlighting a system failure at the moment they needed it most. He emphasized that this was a national loss, not just a personal one, and a reminder that emergency services must be improved and accessible to all citizens.

Obi prayed for the souls of the deceased to find eternal rest and for their family to be granted courage, strength, and comfort. He urged that the tragedy be a catalyst for change, ensuring such incidents never happen again.
