The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has assured Nigerian military personnel of improved pay and welfare packages. Speaking at the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day Social Night, Oluyede said concrete measures are being implemented with the approval of President Bola Tinubu. “Something positive will come up,” he said, adding that 2026 would be a better year for personnel.

The CDS disclosed plans to enhance post-service welfare, including access to soft loans for spouses and affordable housing schemes. Discussions are ongoing with financial institutions to provide low-interest loans to support spouses’ businesses and expand housing options. Oluyede commended soldiers for their resilience and professionalism, paying tribute to fallen heroes and acknowledging military families’ contributions.

The Social Night honored deserving personnel and featured performances by music icons Tuface Idibia, Zule zoo, and Magnito. Attendees included top military officials, and the event was part of the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day activities.
