An X user identified as Mikeliberation has shared an account of how a church member allegedly left his church’s WhatsApp group after offering to donate ₦500,000 for standing fans, only for the pastor to request air conditioners instead.
According to the post, the member had noticed that worshippers were uncomfortable during services because of the heat and often resorted to fanning themselves with handkerchiefs.
He subsequently announced in the church’s WhatsApp group that he would transfer ₦500,000 to the church account to purchase 10 standing fans. The offer reportedly excited members, who began praying for God’s blessings upon him.
However, the pastor allegedly responded: “Our church has outgrown fans. God said you are capable of providing air conditioners.”
