A fresh controversy has erupted within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Jigawa State as governorship aspirant, Bashir Adamu, popularly known as Matawallen Kazaure, formally petitioned the party’s State Election Appeal Committee over the conduct of the recently concluded governorship primary election. Adamu alleged that the exercise was characterised by manipulation, intimidation, and widespread irregularities, insisting that the process failed to reflect fairness and internal democracy expected within the party.

The former federal lawmaker accused officials of the party of abandoning neutrality and allegedly working in favour of another aspirant, Sabo Nagudu, who emerged as the governorship candidate. According to him, delayed distribution of election materials in parts of the state discouraged party members who waited for hours to participate, while incidents of violence and alleged thuggery further disrupted the exercise and created room for manipulation of results.

Maintaining that the irregularities rendered the primary inconclusive, Bashir Adamu urged the Appeal Committee to annul the election and order a fresh poll in line with party guidelines and the Electoral Act. Despite his grievances, he reaffirmed his loyalty to the ADC, expressing optimism that the party would carefully review his petition and ensure justice prevails.
