According to a report by DAILY POST A Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a lawsuit seeking to bar Ireti Kingibe from taking part in activities of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, after her alleged suspension from the party.

The case was filed by some Wuse Ward members of the ADC, who accused the senator of engaging in anti-party activities and violating the party’s constitution.

Delivering judgment on Friday, Justice Peter Lifu ruled that matters relating to suspension and discipline within a political party are internal issues that should not be decided by the court.

The plaintiffs had requested an order restraining Kingibe from parading herself as a member of the ADC, attending meetings, or carrying out party-related functions pending the hearing of the substantive suit.

They also alleged that the senator continued to interfere in ward activities despite her suspension by the ward executives on March 10, 2026.

However, the court faulted the plaintiffs for approaching the judiciary to validate a suspension they initiated themselves.

Justice Lifu held that the proper person to challenge the disciplinary action would have been the suspended senator and not those who carried out the suspension.

Describing the suit as lacking merit, frivolous, and unnecessary, the judge struck out the matter and imposed a N10 million fine on the plaintiffs.

The court also ordered the lawyer who filed the suit on behalf of the plaintiffs to pay an additional N10 million to Senator Kingibe.
