The Lazeera news identified that a tragic road traffic crash occurred on the Potiskum-Dogon Kuka carriageway in Yobe State, claiming the lives of eight persons and leaving three others injured. The incident, which happened around Gaggaba on the Potiskum-Dogon Kuka axis, involved a white Howo trailer and a white Mitsubishi Canter. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the crash, stating that their operatives arrived promptly at the scene, enabling swift rescue and evacuation of victims.

According to the Yobe Sector Commander of FRSC, Mr. Andrew Longkam, the crash involved 12 adult males, with eight fatalities and four rescued, including three injured and one unhurt. The injured and deceased were taken to the Government General Hospital, Dogon Kuka, where the injured received medical attention. Longkam attributed the crash to excessive speeding and route violation, stating that investigations were ongoing to determine the exact circumstances.

The FRSC sector commander has urged motorists to avoid speeding, route violations, and unsafe practices, assuring continued enforcement, emergency response, and public education across the state. The corps’ prompt response ensured traffic control, road clearance, and prevention of secondary crashes.
