Why I’m disappointed at Tinubu — ADC pioneer chairman
Share this:

Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, founding chairman of the African Democratic Congress, has expressed deep disappointment in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying the current administration has fallen short of the ideals many fought for during Nigeria’s pro-democracy struggle.

Speaking in an interview with Nigerian Tribune, Nwosu recalled the collective efforts of activists under the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), noting that many, including himself and Tinubu, made sacrifices to end military rule and entrench democratic governance in the country.

“I will say I am disappointed because we all worked together for NADECO. Some of us contributed money and then all of a sudden we got the military out and one of us now has the presidency—however he might have done it—is this why we got the military out?” he said.

The ADC chieftain lamented what he described as a drift from democratic values, alleging that the current situation reflects “a fascism of a sort,” a development he said runs contrary to the vision that drove the pro-democracy movement.

Describing Tinubu as “a complete disappointment,” Nwosu said he would advise the president to take responsibility for the state of the nation.

“I will tell him, Mr President, I am disappointed. You should just resign and look Nigerians in the face and apologise to them. Appeal to them, apologise to them and then resign,” he stated.
