MultiChoice Set to End Popular Streaming Platform
Share this:

MultiChoice has announced plans to discontinue its streaming platform, Showmax, bringing to a close over a decade of digital entertainment service that began in 2015.

The decision marks the end of an era for the platform, which served millions of subscribers across Africa and beyond with a wide range of movies, series, and original productions.

Over the years, Showmax grew into one of Africa’s leading streaming services, offering both local and international content to compete with global platforms. It played a significant role in promoting African storytelling by investing in original productions and expanding the reach of local filmmakers and actors to wider audiences.

MultiChoice said the move forms part of a broader strategic restructuring of its streaming and digital entertainment services as the company adapts to the rapidly evolving global streaming landscape. The company is expected to provide further details on the transition and how existing subscribers will be affected in the coming months.
