Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has pledged to mobilize Igbo residents in the Federal Capital Territory to support candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming Area Council elections. Addressing journalists at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, Kalu, who serves as Secretary of the APC National Campaign Council for the FCT poll, emphasized that the party would leverage its performance and inclusive governance to secure the votes of Ndigbo and other residents.

Kalu, an Abia-born politician, highlighted the FCT’s diverse population, including a significant number of Igbo traders, professionals, and investors. He noted that as an Igbo man and a Nigerian leader, he is part of the current administration, and Igbos can no longer claim exclusion. “I am an Igbo man and also a Nigerian, and I’m part of this government. I’m one of the faces of Igbos in leadership,” he said.

Finally, the Area Council elections are crucial, and Kalu’s efforts is perceived with aim to consolidate support for the APC among key demographics in the FCT.
