President Bola Tinubu has left Lagos for Europe, combining his end-of-year break with preparations for an official visit to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. According to a statement by Presidential Spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga, the president is scheduled to participate in the 2026 edition of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026) Summit.
Tinubu’s visit follows an invitation by UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. ADSW 2026 is a week-long global platform that convenes leaders from government, business, and civil society to shape the future of sustainable development. The summit’s theme is “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” focusing on innovation, finance, and human capital.
The president is expected to return to Nigeria after the summit concludes, which will showcase pathways for advancing sustainable growth and global cooperation. ADSW 2026 is set to hold early January, and will bring together leaders to link ambition with action across key areas.
