Hon. Peter Aniekwe, Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Labour, Employment and Productivity and Member representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency, has joined fellow members of the committee in the United Kingdom for a high-level legislative study tour focused on strengthening governance and advancing labour reforms. The programme brought together lawmakers, policymakers, and labour experts to exchange ideas on global best practices in labour administration, industrial relations, and effective governance.
The study tour provided participants with the opportunity to engage with UK legislators, labour unions, and policy institutions on key issues including dispute resolution, social dialogue, sustainable employment policies, and legislative oversight. The knowledge-sharing initiative is expected to support efforts aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s labour sector and improving policy outcomes for workers across the country.
Speaking to Lazeera News, Hon. Aniekwe said the experience reflects his commitment to building a stronger labour system through international collaboration and comparative learning. He noted that the insights gained from the programme would contribute to more effective legislation, improved workers’ welfare, and enhanced productivity, while reinforcing governance frameworks that support sustainable national development.
