According to a report by Daily Post on Saturday, July 11, 2026, according to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, the successful rescue of the abducted teachers and students from Ogbomoso, Oyo State, is evidence of the administration’s will to tackle national insecurity, according to Tinubu.

He praised the move, saying it showed the government’s determination to keep its residents safe and enhance security.

After weeks of fear, the victims’ families and communities finally felt some comfort with their release, according to the governor.

Satisfied that the kîdnåppëd had been able to reclaim their freedom after such a lengthy time in captivity, he stated that the result was a good step in the continuing struggle against criminal activities.

Armed men stormed three schools in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State more than 55 days ago, killing 39 students and 7 instructors. On Friday, the victims were released.

Security services launched concerted efforts to obtain the safe return of the abducted individuals, since their abduction had generated public anxiety.

His Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, stated these comments in a statement that Sanwo-Olu released on Friday.

The governor lauded federal efforts and reiterated that the most recent event demonstrated continuing progress in fighting insecurity across the nation, as stated in the statement.

Moreover, he said that the operation’s success proved how effective cooperation among the country’s security agencies is.

Sanwo-Olu praised the joint efforts of several security services in Nigeria to secure the safe return of the kidnapped students and instructors, including the Nigerian Air Force, the Nigerian Police Force, the Department of State Services, and the Nigerian Army.

The governor of Lagos State expressed his condolences to the people of Ogbomoso and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde over the abduction’s devastating impact.

He informed people in the South-West and elsewhere in Nigeria that their efforts to improve security were paying off, saying that the rescue had given the impacted families fresh hope.
