Ameh Affirmed Obi’s Decamp From ADC as Weakening The Party
Share this:

Former National Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Peter Ameh, has said that the exit of Peter Obi from the ADC significantly weakened the party and shifted political momentum toward the NDC ahead of the 2027 general election.

Speaking during an interview on SYMFONI TV, Ameh argued that Obi’s influence within the opposition coalition was too strong for the ADC to survive comfortably without him. According to him, Obi’s departure immediately reduced the party’s political strength and public appeal across the country.

“Obi leaving ADC weakened the party’s chances by over 60 percent and created a major opportunity for the NDC,” Ameh stated during the discussion.

He explained that Obi remains one of the most influential political figures in Nigeria because of the massive support he enjoys among young voters and ordinary citizens. Ameh said many political actors continue to focus their attacks on Obi because they recognize the level of enthusiasm and trust he commands nationwide.

According to him, Obi’s reputation for discipline, transparency, and accountability has continued to strengthen his political relevance since the 2023 election.

He added that despite criticism and political pressure, Obi has remained focused on governance issues such as the economy, public spending, and the rising cost of living.

Ameh also dismissed claims that Obi fears political competition or party primaries, insisting that the former Anambra governor has repeatedly contested and won difficult political battles throughout his career.

He maintained that Obi’s movement to the NDC could reshape opposition politics in Nigeria, especially as discussions around the 2027 presidential election continue to gain momentum across the country.
