Obi-Kwankwaso Can Defeat Tinubu – Ibrahim
Share this:

‎According to a report by Daily Post, on Thursday April 23, 2026, a political analyst, Hassan Ibrahim, has stated that a joint ticket between Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso could be strong enough to defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

‎He explained that such a combination would balance regional support, according to him, Peter Obi would likely secure votes from the southern part of the country, while Kwankwaso would deliver strong support from Kano and the wider North-West region.

‎Ibrahim stated this kind of partnership could give the opposition a competitive advantage if properly managed and noted that both politicians have large and loyal followings in their respective strongholds.

‎However, he warned that if opposition leaders fail to come together, it would once again strengthen the chances of the ruling party in the next election, he said division among key political figures would make it easier for President Tinubu to retain power.

‎He added that unity is very important for the opposition if they truly want to change the outcome in 2027, according to him, without cooperation, individual ambitions could weaken their overall strength.

‎Ibrahim stressed that the lessons of the 2023 general elections should not be ignored, he said the opposition performed below expectations at that time because key players could not work together.

‎He noted that repeating the same pattern of disunity would lead to the same result, in his view, failure to resolve personal and political differences would only benefit the ruling party again.

‎The analyst urged opposition leaders to adopt a different approach this time, he said they must prioritise collective success over individual ambition if they want to make a serious challenge in 2027.

‎”Even an Obi-Kwankwaso ticket can defeat Tinubu because Obi will bring votes from the South, while Kwankwaso delivers the North. If they refuse to unite, then it means they are giving Tinubu an easy path to win again in 2027,” he said.
