Kalu Dismisses Allegations, Pushes for Financial Transparency

The Office of the Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has strongly rejected allegations made by the Abia State chapter of the Labour Party, describing them as false, misleading, and politically motivated.

In a statement signed by his aide, George Maduka, the Senator’s office also dismissed remarks attributed to the party’s Publicity Secretary, Chidiebere Okoro, alleging they reflect the position of the administration of Governor Alex Otti. The statement insisted that Kalu’s recent political comments were misinterpreted and reaffirmed his commitment to democratic principles.

Defending the Senator’s record, the statement maintained that Kalu has no history of electoral malpractice and challenged critics to provide verifiable evidence to support such claims. It further described his remarks as lawful expressions within democratic boundaries rather than threats to peace. The office also accused the Labour Party in Abia State of internal divisions and questioned the performance of the current administration, raising concerns over infrastructure, welfare, and the management of increased federal allocations.

The statement went further to call on Governor Otti to subject the state’s finances to a forensic audit, arguing that such a move would promote transparency and accountability in governance. It also highlighted concerns over unpaid salaries, pension arrears, and rising education costs, while defending Kalu’s personal wealth as predating his political career.
