The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, has cautioned students against the rising trend of using Artificial Intelligence tools to write academic projects, describing it as a threat to originality and the human depth of scholarship.

Speaking at the 12th Prof. Adetokunbo Sofoluwe Memorial Anniversary Lecture in Lagos, Bashiru warned that while technology boosts efficiency, its misuse in education, governance, and society could fuel cybercrime, misinformation, and academic dishonesty.

He urged responsible use of digital tools, stressing that innovation must be balanced with regulation. Bashiru also warned against rushing into full electronic voting without addressing infrastructural and cybersecurity gaps.
