The Ebonyi State Government has confirmed that the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport, Onueke, Ezza South Local Government Area, will resume full operations on August 19, 2025, following the completion of airfield lighting installation.
Commissioner for Aviation and Transport Technology, Mrs. Ngozi Obichukwu, announced in Abakaliki on Saturday that experts and engineers are working at top speed to connect the lighting system to the airport’s electricity powerhouse within two weeks. She assured that the project was on schedule and would enhance night and low-visibility operations.
Obichukwu urged air travellers from Ogeb, Obubra, Itigidi, Boki, Okigwe, and neighbouring areas, as well as other parts of Abia, Abuja, and Lagos, to take advantage of the reopening. She noted that United Nigeria Airline will operate direct flights between Abakaliki and both Abuja and Lagos once services resume.
