Believe It’s Atiku’s Time, Just Like It Happened To PMB -Momodu
Share this:

Media personality and politician, Dele Momodu, has stated that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar remains the strongest contender ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.

Momodu made the remarks during an interview on News Central TV, where he discussed the evolving political landscape and the possible contenders expected to shape the next general election. According to him, the outcome of the 2023 presidential election demonstrated that Nigerian politics is capable of producing unexpected results.

Highlighting examples from the last election, Momodu pointed to Peter Obi’s impressive performance in Lagos State and Atiku Abubakar’s victory in Osun State as signs that traditional political calculations can change significantly.

He explained that if Peter Obi decides to contest again in 2027, he is likely to maintain strong support across the South-East region. Momodu also suggested that former President Goodluck Jonathan could command substantial influence in the South-South should he return to the political scene.

In addition, he identified Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde as another politician capable of attracting a notable percentage of votes from the South-West region.

Despite mentioning other influential political figures, Momodu insisted that Atiku remains the most formidable northern politician with widespread national appeal. He noted that the former vice president has spent years building a loyal political base across different parts of the country, positioning him as a leading force ahead of the next election cycle.

Momodu further compared Atiku’s political journey to that of former President Muhammadu Buhari, who unsuccessfully contested multiple presidential elections before eventually securing victory in 2015 through strategic political alliances across the South.

Expressing confidence in Atiku’s chances, Momodu said, “I believe this is his time, just like it happened to Buhari, Buhari kept trying, he gave up, then he was able to navigate his way into the South where he had the Tinubu at that time and he was able to win that election. I expect a repeat performance.”

His comments have since sparked political discussions, with many observers debating the possible alliances and power shifts that could shape the 2027 presidential race.
