JUST IN: Dele Momodu Urges Rotimi Amaechi To Temper His Anger
Share this:

According to a report by Daily Post on Saturday, May 23, 2026, veteran journalist, publisher, and former presidential candidate, Dele Momodu, has clarified that he did not intend to insult former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, following recent political disagreements within the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Momodu made the clarification while reacting to comments Amaechi made concerning former Vice President Atiku Abubakar during a television interview.

The disagreement emerged after Amaechi, during an interview with Trust TV, criticised Atiku over the issue of zoning.

According to reports, Amaechi questioned Atiku’s position after the former vice president reportedly stated that he does not support zoning arrangements in presidential politics.

The issue of zoning has remained a sensitive topic in Nigerian politics, especially among parties and political leaders seeking balance between different regions of the country ahead of future elections.

Amaechi and Atiku are both among the leading figures currently linked with the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress.

Political discussions within the party have continued to attract attention as several influential members attempt to shape the direction of the opposition platform before the 2027 general election.

Reports have indicated that some prominent individuals within the ADC are encouraging Amaechi to step down and support Atiku’s ambition in order to strengthen the party’s chances in the election.

However, Amaechi has reportedly refused the request and maintained his interest in contesting for the party’s presidential ticket.

During his interview, Amaechi expressed confidence in his chances of securing the ADC nomination.

He dismissed suggestions that the party should adopt a consensus arrangement to produce a single candidate before the primary election.

The former governor insisted that the process should remain competitive and democratic.

His comments added to ongoing discussions within the party regarding how its presidential candidate should emerge and the role influential party leaders may play in the selection process.

Reacting to Amaechi’s statements, Dele Momodu spoke during an appearance on Channels Television.

He explained that his earlier comments were not intended as a personal attack against the former governor. Momodu also appealed for calm and moderation in the ongoing political exchanges within the ADC.

He advised Amaechi to reduce political tension and approach disagreements with patience and understanding as political activities continue ahead of the election season.
