The African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Saturday flagged off its membership registration and revalidation exercise in Anambra State at the Hollywood Event Centre, in a gathering attended by several prominent political figures and party supporters.

Among the dignitaries present were former Anambra State Governor, Mr. Peter Obi; Senator Tony Nwoye, Senator Victor Umeh; ADC chieftain, Mr. John Chuma Nwosu; and former Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Chief Oseloka H. Obaze (OHO), National Assembly House of Representatives members like Hon. Peter Aniekwe (Macpee), Hon. Afam Ogene, Prof Lilian Orogbu, Hon. Aja-Aja Nze, alongside other stakeholders and party faithfuls.

Addressing the gathering, John Chuma Nwosu described the exercise as a critical step toward strengthening the party’s grassroots structure and preparing the ADC for future political contests. He urged members to actively participate in the registration and revalidation process across the state. He emphasised that the singular mission ahead was to make Peter Obi the President of Nigeria.

Former Governor Peter Obi emphasised the importance of responsible leadership, transparency and active citizen participation in the political process, while Senator Victor Umeh encouraged party supporters to remain committed to building a strong political platform.

However, one notable concern at the event was the absence of the party’s State Executive Council. Sources within the party said the state leadership was largely sidelined in the planning of the programme, raising concerns among some members that certain interests may be attempting to hijack the party structure.

The event ended with the symbolic registration of some leaders, signalling the official commencement of the exercise across Anambra State.

From the event, most of the attendees escorted HE Peter Obi to Ward 2 in Agulu, where he revalidated his membership of ADC.
