POLICE INSPECTOR ARRESTED FOR SELLING ARMS TO BANDITS
Share this:

A police inspector attached to the Niger Government House in Minna has been arrested for allegedly selling arms and ammunition to bandits and hoodlums. The suspect, Insp. John Moses, reportedly confessed to the crime, implicating a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Abdullahi Isah, who was the Head of Armoury at Mopol 12, Minna.

According to reports, Insp. Moses confessed that he was supplied the arms and ammunition by DSP Isah, and sold them to bandits and hoodlums in Erena Community, Shiroro LGA, through his brother.

DSP Isah, who was already under investigation for missing arms and ammunition, allegedly shot himself dead during a routine arms audit on December 16. The audit revealed that 13 AK-47 rifles and over 2,000 rounds of ammunition were missing or unaccounted for.

The Niger State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that Isah was initially arrested on December 15 on suspicion of involvement in illegal dealings in ammunition. Four other police officers linked to the late DSP are being interrogated, and officers who accompanied him to the armoury have been arrested for negligence.
