Umeh Calls for Tech Boost in Kebbi Schoolgirls’ Abduction Case

The Senator Representing Anambra Central, Senator Victor Umeh has called on Nigeria’s security agencies to urgently adopt advanced tracking technologies in the wake of the abduction of 25 schoolgirls in Kebbi State.

Speaking during Tuesday’s Senate session, Umeh said the incident underscores the nation’s continued reliance on outdated methods of policing, despite the availability of modern tools that could prevent such tragedies.

“Technology has made everything possible,” Umeh declared. “There is no reason abductors should vanish with children in this digital age. With real-time tracking, surveillance drones, and coordinated intelligence systems, these criminals can be located and intercepted quickly.”

The lawmaker stressed that technology-driven security must become standard practice, particularly in safeguarding schools and ensuring swift rescue operations.
