“₦80,000 Blood Money: I Killed My Mother. Read the full story

My name is Harrison, and I am from Edo State.

What I am about to say is painful and shameful, but it is the truth.

On 21st December 2025, my neighbor accused me of stealing her fowl. They run a poultry in the same compound where we live. That day, I was at home with my mother when the woman started shouting, telling people I stole her fowl.

I denied it, but she kept accusing me.

My mother became angry and confronted her, woman to woman, insisting I was innocent because no stolen fowl was found in our house.

This led to a serious argument that later resulted in my arrest.

That evening, my neighbor and her husband took me to a nearby police station. The next day, my mother bailed me out. I am her only child. My father died when I was in junior secondary school, and since then, it has been just my mother and me struggling to survive.

My mother trained me from secondary school up to university level alone. I graduated a few years ago, but I could not find a job to support her. Life became extremely hard for us.

Sometimes, we barely had food to eat. Every night, my mother cried because I was already 40 years old with nothing to show for it.

Two weeks later, my neighbors admitted they were wrong and apologized to me over the stolen fowl. I forgave them, but from that time, they stopped speaking with my mother.

After apologizing, the same woman who accused me made me a shocking offer. She asked me to kill my mother, promising to pay me ₦80,000. At first, I refused. But hunger, frustration, and desperation overwhelmed me.

One day, I made the worst decision of my life.

I lured my mother to our farmland, telling her I saw ripe palm fruits there. She followed me.

That was where I killed her. Afterward, I dismembered her body, packed the remains into a bag, and buried them on the farm.

When I returned home, I informed my neighbors that the job was done. They told me to wait while they went to withdraw the money from a POS. Unknown to me, they had gone to report me to the police.

That was how I was arrested and led the police to the farmland where the crime took place.

I beg everyone to forgive me.

I did what I did out of hunger and desperation.

I don’t want to go to prison. 💔
