Former presidential campaign spokesperson and legal practitioner, Kenneth Okonkwo, has alleged that Obunike Ohaegbu identified Peter Obi and some party caucus leaders as those linked to the authorization of nomination payments demanded from aspirants in the New Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to Okonkwo, Ohaegbu made the claim when asked to provide evidence supporting allegations that House of Representatives aspirants were required to pay N10 million, while Senate aspirants were allegedly asked to pay N20 million. He stated that Ohaegbu told him the party leadership mentioned Obi and caucus leaders reportedly assembled by him when questioned about who approved the payments.
Okonkwo has maintained his call for a thorough investigation into the allegations, stressing the need for transparency and accountability within the party. He also insisted that any aspirant found to have been wrongly charged should be refunded, noting that fairness and due process are essential to maintaining the confidence of party members.
